Julie Chen Moonves is the host of the 22nd season, premiering on CBS 5 August 2018. Chen Moonves served as moderator, and was one of the first hosts of The Talk. She won the Daytime Emmy Award for her work. However, her true passion came when she added writer to her duties, and was awarded an Emmy for it. Also, she won an Emmy award for outstanding host of a talk program. Between 2002 and 2010 Chen Moonves was the co-host for CBS News' morning weekday broadcast The Early Show. Prior to this, Chen Moonves was the CBS Morning News' anchor, and also the anchor for news on The Early Show. Chen Moonves was assigned to Cairo following the events of 9/11. In Cairo, she scoured down and interviewed the father who commanded hijackers for an eye-opening and fascinating interview. Chen Moonves's interviews include newsmakers like former New York City City mayor Rudy Giuliani; Queen Rania Jordanian William Cohen (former Defense Secretary), and celebrities like Denzel Washington. Before entering CBS News from 1995 Chen Moonves had been as a reporter at WDTN TV Dayton. In her final academic year at the college, she was an assistant for ABC News in Los Angeles (1990-1991) and was the director of ABC NewsOne (the network's affiliated news channel). Her first position in broadcasting was as a desk associate for ABC News' late-night broadcast Nightline along with Ted Koppel, who remains one of her journalists' idols. Chen Moonves worked with Koppel on the Columbia du-Pont-winning show on primetime, Anatomy of a Riot in 1992, which focused on the Los Angeles riots.
